Willis House Bright Space Opens in MA
An unfinished storage space was recently turned into a warm, welcoming Bright Space at the Willis House in Hudson, MA. Children from the 14 families living at Willis House will be able to play and spend time with their family.
“We help families to get back on their feet,” Janice D’Amico, program manager at Willis House said. “We help them and their children to find the stability they need.”
Bright Horizons of Sudbury, Wayland, Wellesley, Natick and Boxborough as well as Staples and Boston Scientific raised money to create the Bright Space through art auctions, bake sales, and farmers markets. Thanks to donated labor, however, there was money left over that will be used to create a computer room where parents can search for jobs online.
“We try to open up spaces where children really get the chance to engage and enjoy the space,” Bright Horizons Regional Manager Jaqueline Kebabjian said. “The main goal was to ensure that the families who are here have the opportunity to do one-on-one, educationally sound activities with their children.”
