Three New Bright Spaces Open in Chicago
Children at the New Moms shelter in Chicago have a place to play and be with their families thanks to the efforts of 16 Chicago Bright Horizons Centers and the Chicago Parent Marketing Team who came together to make a difference.
They took on the challenge of turning these laundry rooms at New Moms into 3 beautiful, warm and nurturing Bright Spaces.
A little muscle, a lot of unpacking, many elevator rides, good assembly skills, a few decisions, several hours on multiple days, laughter, determination and great teamwork and the Bright Spaces were created – each with a special nature-related, Chicago destination theme:
- The Nature Museum Bright Space on the 2nd Floor
- The Shedd Aquarium Bright Space on the 3rd floor
- The Lincoln Park Zoo Bright Space on the 4th Floor
The Grand Opening Celebration on Oct. 18 featured three ribbon cuttings, lots of thank yous, and music and the Hokey Pokey with Ms. Caren. Best of all, volunteers and children got to spend time in the new spaces together.
New Moms, Inc. equips struggling, impoverished adolescent parents (aged 13-24) and their children with the personal and workforce development tools they will need, to permanently change their life stories from chronic dependence on society, to economic independence and family stability.
