Sonias Place quiltIt was in 2008, that the Bright Horizons Client Relations Team decided to create one of our Bright Spaces® in a community near the Home Office in Watertown. After touring many places, the team partnered with Parenting Journey* in Somerville, MA, recognizing that a Bright Space would truly impact the space, making it cozier and more welcoming for children.

Tragically, before the team began work on the Bright Space, Client Relations Director Sonia Daly Belcher passed away unexpectedly on her 32nd birthday. In the aftermath of the tragedy, the team decided to dedicate the Bright Space in honor of Sonia.

Since 2008, Bright Horizons and the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children have proudly continued in the partnership with Parenting Journey to continue supporting families and nurturing each and every child’s unique qualities and potential. Recently the Bright Horizons Growth Team used funds to renew the Bright Space for the families of Parenting Journey to enhance and renovate the current space where children can play, learn, and have fun.

These Bright Spaces host more than 750 hundred children each year while their parents attend classes.

“We are extremely fortunate to have the longstanding support of Bright Horizons and the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children,” stated Maury Peterson, Executive Director, Parenting Journey. “Seven years ago they created our child care space, and just when it needed some freshening, they returned in full force making it a space that children don’t want to leave, and parents enjoy bringing their children to.”
