Rita Baumgart, Substitute Teacher, Receives Gleason Grant

Please join us in congratulating Rita Baumgart, Substitute Teacher–Center Support at Argonne Child Development Center, for being honored with a Gleason Grant.  Reading Friends at Hodgkins Elementary School will receive a check for $250 in her name.  This is Rita’s fifth year with the program and she continues to be impressed with the advances the students are making with their reading skills.  She works with Third Grade children who are at various reading levels, having a child read to her for a 15-20 minute session.  Many of the children are from homes where English is the second language and they delight in their ability to read and understand English well.  Rita says that these funds will be specifically designated to replace books and add computer programs to test the children’s comprehension of materials read.

The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children provides grants to nonprofit organizations where our employees volunteer to make a difference in the lives of children and families.
