Recycle Your Old Phone; Help Children in Crisis

January 2, 2013

Did you get a new phone for the holidays and now you don’t know what to do with your old one?

Instead of throwing it away, recycle it for a good cause!

Bright Horizons’ GoingGreen team has partnered with the Sprint Enterprise Charity Program to reuse and recycle old phones and phone batteries and accessories, regardless of carrier or manufacturer. All donation proceeds will go directly to the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children.

How it works:
• Collect old phones at your center, school, or office. (You may download a flyer on BrightWeb on the GoingGreen Team page)
• Download a return shipping label and instructions off BrightWeb on the GoingGreen Team page
• Put the items in a box for shipping and attach the pre-paid label

All devices collected will be wiped of data and priced with a trade-in value. While the value will be determined by model and condition, all devices will be worth at least $1. Whatever its value, you’ll be keeping old phones, batteries, and accessories out of the waste stream. Sprint will send a monthly check based on the number of devices collected and their trade-in-values. Those proceeds will then be donated directly to the Foundation.

Please note this is for personal devices only. Please do not send-in any cell phones that were issued for your center or school.

If you are not a Bright Horizons Center, School, Office, or Department and would like to participate, please contact bhfoundation@brighthorizons.com for more information.
