New Bright Spaces Focuses on Fathers
Our new Bright Space in Tewksbury, MA, was a labor of love for Bright Horizons Assistant Director and Bright Space Connector Liz Sullivan. It reaches a population not always served by Bright Spaces – fathers. This Bright Space is located at Transitions, a substance abuse rehabilitation facility for men.
This Bright Space means hope,” say Liz. “The space was donated in loving memory to my father, which makes it that much more meaningful to me.”
Liz remained hopeful during the four years it took to open the Bright Space even with changes in her personal life, professional life, and years of turnover at the agency. When asked if she would have chosen a different agency, Liz replied, “There were times where it was difficult, but this agency holds a special place in my heart as my father struggled with addiction, and I know how important family can be during recovery.”
Liz plans to continue to work with the Bright Space and keep up with the needs of the agency. “My heart is full. It was a long, hard journey but well worth it when I got to see a father light up when he saw the space and realized he could use it with his toddler son coming that day,” says Liz.
