Making a Difference: Amtul Suhail Helps Students Make Better Lives through Education

May 7, 2015

Amtul Suhail“Many people spend their time volunteering, but few people have the opportunity for their profession and their volunteer efforts to cross paths,” says Amtul Suhail, Director at 2nd Generation at Allerton in California. “I am thankful that the company I work for acknowledges my accomplishments and goes so far to even donate to a cause that I am so passionate about.”

Amtul donates her time and talent for the Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association of Northern California. She is a guiding force behind their mission.  They have been able to help thousands of students at the university from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

“She is a role model, a coach, and a trainer for the students and works very hard to find truly deserving candidates, contacts their families, and finds out what their needs might be,” says one association board member. “Once she identifies the need, money is sent directly to the student to fulfill that need.”

In honor of Amtul’s volunteer work, the Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association of Northern California recently received a Gleason Grant for $250.

“The generous amount of money that has been donated will go to many deserving students who want to make a better life for themselves,” says Amtul, “I cannot begin to express my gratitude of how impactful this grant will be. Thank you again for making my day brighter, my smile wider, and my passion to help others reaffirmed.”

Any Bright Horizons employee or a group of employees who volunteers at least 20 hours a year with a qualified nonprofit organization* is eligible to apply for a Foundation grant. Larger grants are available in honor of those who volunteer more than 100 hours a year.

The Foundation recognizes the Bright Horizons volunteers who are making a difference in the communities where we live and work through volunteering, engagement, and fundraising.  Volunteers can be Foundation grant recipients, Community Champions, volunteers hosting Brightening Lives Activities, and/or groups or individuals fundraising for the Foundation. If you or someone you know should be recognized, please contact the Foundation at bhfoundation@brighthorizons.com.
