Durham Bright Space Gets Makeover

A team of staff from Duke Children’s Campus joined forces to help a Bright Space at the Durham Rescue Mission homeless shelter that was in need of furniture, storage and much-needed makeover.

After receiving a Bright Space Grant, Twanika Caldwell, Ayana Rush, Caroline McCall, Hannah Boyd, Rachael Tonnenson, Jackie Brown, Jordyn Jackson and Nicole Turner devoted two weekends to bringing their design to life. The end result was a beautiful new space with fresh paint on the walls, new furniture, plenty of storage and even a new chalk wall!

The Bright Horizons team plans to visit the Bright Space at least once a month to visit and do activities with the children. Congratulations on the completion of your project and thank you for making a difference in the lives of the children at The Durham Rescue Mission!
