Brightening Lives Activities Build Teamwork
While Brightening Lives Activities – fun, easy volunteer projects – are great to do to give back to your community, they also can fulfill a valuable function of team building at events like Division 2’s recent Professional Development Day (PDD).
The Bright Space® at the Virginia Williams Family Resource Center in Washington, D.C., a center where families can access emergency housing, communicated that many times parents with their children do not have supplies to change diapers. So, the PDD team decided to meet this need by creating packets with diapers, wipes, snacks, and an inspirational message that could be handed out to the families.
Better Together reps facilitated the activity, and around 40 centers in the D.C. area participated. More than 2,000 packets were created.
“Some centers did an assembly line, some had friendly competitions to see which teachers/teams could make the most bags. We played music while putting them together and had fun with it!” said Emily Williams, Bright Horizons® Field Education and Training Specialist. “It was a huge success, and our teachers really connected with and enjoyed the activity and giving back to the local community.”
