Bright Space Team Presents on Trauma Informed Design
The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children’s Bright Space Team – Ileen Henderson, Jane Gibbons, and Julie Kelly – recently presented “Trauma Informed Design” at the 4th biennial “Beyond Housing” Conference hosted by the Institute for Children, Poverty, and Homeless in New York City. The conference was attended by more than 600 people from 6 countries.
Ileen, Jane, and Julie regularly use trauma informed principles to create family friendly and child focused Bright Spaces in a variety of settings where children are in crisis. The session helped attendees think through their own spaces and how to improve the design.
“This was an amazing session,” said Mike Morowski, Executive Director of Up Spring, Cincinnati. “We will implement trauma informed care for the betterment of kids.”
